Learning outcomes
Analyze the features of natural and anthropogenic systems and objects of the upper crust and its sedimentary layer in particular. Develop, manage and manage projects in the Earth sciences, evaluate and ensure the quality of work. To know modern methods of research of the upper Earth and its geospheres and to be able to apply them in production and research activities. Develop and implement mechanisms of territorial management, geoplanning, monitor regional development, draw up plans and programs. Demonstrate the ability to adapt and act in a new situation related to work in the profession, the ability to generate new ideas in the field of geoinformatics. Apply educational technologies and methods of teaching geoinformatics in educational institutions.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of geological cycle courses with basic knowledge of structural geology, stratigraphy, geophysics. 2. Have basic skills in working with spreadsheets, geographic information systems.
Course content
The basics of modeling hydrocarbon deposits on the example of the Schlumberger Petrel interpretation system are being introduced. The main sources are studied data for construction of structural-geological and material models, methods of resource calculation, data visualization. Students acquire practical skills of joint interpretation of geophysical and geological data, construction of three-dimensional models of hydrocarbon deposits.
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
1. R. Selley Elements of Petroleum Geology, Secon Edition, 1998, Academic Press, London. 2. Petrel 2008. Introduction course. // Schlumberger, 2008; 3. Petrel 2008. Seismic visualization and interpretation course.// Schlumberger, 2008; 4. L. Kuperstein. Simulation modeling. - Vinnytsia: VFEU, 2009.
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical training
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and provides: implementation of a practical semester project (where students have demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), performing 10 independent practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve the tasks without limiting the tools and techniques problems) and conducting 2 written modular tests. Final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam
