Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the basic concepts of the logic and methodology of scientific research. 2. Possess elementary skills in summarizing and analyzing scientific, statistical and analytical publications.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at revealing the features of sociological and political science knowledge about society, models of social order and interactions, basic measurements and problems of modern society, the logic of development, socio-cultural, political and cultural characteristics and development trends of modern Ukrainian society. The discipline is focused on the dimensions of values, identity, inequalities, social solidarity and conflicts, social relations in employment systems and politics, the history of political thought, issues of power, regimes in politics, political systems of society and the state, civil society, democracy, parties and party systems, elections, world politics.

Assessment methods and criteria
The answers to the seminars are evaluated during the actual conduct of the classes, points for students for successful seminar work are accumulated throughout the module. Analytical tasks are performed by each student as part of self-study throughout the module and are evaluated upon completion. The control work is carried out by students within a week after studying the last topic within self-study. The credit based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures for successful students. A student is not allowed to pass if during the semester he scored less than 60 points, for admission to the test which necessary to complete a task in the form of an essay with a content and volume corresponding to the number of subjects unprocessed by him during the semester in order to get points up to 60. Essays are evaluated similarly to answers at the seminar.
