Learning outcomes
- Fundamentals of tensor analysis; - Theory of elasticity; - Types of deformed state of the environment; - Wave motion in an elastic medium; - The theory of plasticity. Basic provisions and definitions - Linear viscosity; - Describe the stress-strain state of the environment and determine the basic relationship with geological objects; - Have basic practical skills in the application of tensor algebra to describe the phenomena of solid-state mechanics.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Ability to apply the acquired knowledge to solve geological problems by geophysical methods.
Course content
The program of the discipline focuses on the theory of elasticity and plasticity, viscoelasticity. The main concepts of the subject are mass density, vectors of displacements and velocities of the medium, tensors of internal stresses and strains, the density of kinetic and internal energy of the body, as well as the laws of conservation. The functions of creep and relaxation, as well as complex modules are considered. As a mathematical basis, a material tensor is used as a mathematical object, which exists regardless of the choice of coordinate system and is invariant, so it is widely used in the study of stress and strain of the real environment.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes and independent work of students
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems without limiting the tools and techniques of problem solving) and conducting 2 written modular tests works. The final evaluation is conducted in the form of a test.
