Learning outcomes
- Basic concepts and terms of theoretical petrophysics, classification of methods and their studied parameters; - Methods of work with field equipment and laboratory equipment; - Stages of laboratory research to determine the petrophysical characteristics of rocks; - Principles of processing and geological interpretation of petrophysical data; - Measure, process and describe the results of petrophysical observations and explain their relationship with geological and man-made objects; - Apply the physical parameters of rocks to analyze natural processes and geological composition.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of geophysical methods. 2. Have basic skills in working with a personal computer. 3. Have the skills of mathematical statistics.
Course content
The program of the discipline focuses on the study of physical properties of rocks and methods of their determination. Petrophysical parameters of different physical groups are considered. The relationship between physical and geological characteristics of rocks is explained by real examples. Areas of application of petrophysics are characterized by the results of interpretation. The method of complex processing of petrophysical data for search of minerals is included in the consideration.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: practical work (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher) and 7 written tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written test.
