The main geological problems that are solved using the methods of well logging. Principles of formation of rational well logging complexes for solving specific geological and technical problems. The main well geophysical equipment and facilities used during the well logging. The most important electrical and magnetic methods of well logging (tasks, physical basis, use). Basic radioactive methods of well logging (tasks, physical bases, use). The most important acoustic methods of well logging (tasks, physical basis, use). Basic thermal methods of well logging (tasks, physical bases, use). The specifics of the well logging technology. Special works in wells to determine the filtration-reservoir properties of formations. Methods of studying the technical condition of wells. Shooting and blasting works in the wells.
Form of study
Distance form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of physics, chemistry, mathematics (at the level of non-core specialties of higher education), basics of geophysical research, of sedimentary rocks petrograph. Basic computer skills.
Course content
The basics (physical essence and technology) of electrical, electromagnetic, nuclear, seismic, technical, geochemical methods of well logging, as well as methods of studying the technical condition of wells and methods of testing are considered. The possibility of solving geological and geophysical problems using well logging methods is substantiated. The specifics of well logging of different purposes are also studied; principles of formation of rational well logging complexes for solving specific geological and technical problems taking into account the conditions of measurement in wells; basics of well logging data processing and interpretation. The basics and tasks of shooting and blasting works in wells are studied.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, laboratory work, independent work of students.
Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: 9 laboratory works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve problems using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), performance of 10 independent works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve tasks without limiting the tools and techniques of problem solving), conducting 2 written modular tests, and also provides: intermediate control for the 7th semester in the form of the total number of points on learning outcomes. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam.
