Knowledge about prospecting and exploration principles, prospecting prerequisites and features, methods of prospecting, exploration, sampling, reserves evaluation of mineral deposits will be given. The skills of main prospecting tools and exploration methods using, the principles of previous estimation areas and occurrences will be acquired.

The theoretical foundations of mineralogy and the geology of mineral deposits should be known.

Basics information about prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits is presented with detailed consideration of the main stages and methods of geological exploration, geological features for exploration. Issues of prospecting peculiarities, geological, mineralogical, geochemical and geophysical methods of prospecting, principles and methods of sampling, technical tools of exploration of mineral deposits are covered. Also, some issues related to requirements for mineral raw materials, modern principles of reserves classification and methods of their calculation, as well as the basics of geological and economic assessment of mineral deposits are considered.

Lectures, seminars and independent work of the student

The results of students' learning activities are evaluated on a scale of 100 points. The evaluation is carried out according to the accumulative system and provides: 2 tests, each of which is evaluated at 15 points (a minimum of 10 points), the 30 points can be awarded for work in practical classes (a minimum of 18 points). The final assessment is an exam (maximum 40 points, marginal 24 points). The final grade is based on the results of the student's work over a period of two semesters, as the sum of points for systematic work in practical classes, the results of tests and points obtained during the exam.
