- Use information technology, cartographic and geoinformation models in the field of Earth sciences. - Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. in the study of geological processes and structures. - Be able to perform research on geospheres using quantitative methods of analysis.

Course content
There is an acquaintance with the basics of algorithmization, conceptual and methodological principles of programming. Students get acquainted with the features use of modules to work with geospatial data. The general principles of representation of geospatial data, both internal and visual representation are studied. Students get acquainted with professional software products for Python programming. The principles of organization and the main stages of software development are studied. Students gain skills in team development of special software. There is an acquaintance with modules for scientific tasks, construction of the program interface in Python language and work with databases.

Assessment methods and criteria
The control is carried out according to the modular rating system and includes: performance of 9 practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve tasks using the methods and tools outlined by the teacher), 6 independent practical works (where students must demonstrate the quality of acquired knowledge and solve tasks without limiting tools and techniques for solving the problem) and conducting 2 written modular tests. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written oral exam.
