PLO 01. To collect, process, and analyze information in the field of Natural Sciences (Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology). PLO 02. Use professional Ukrainian language orally and in writing.PLO 07. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history, and composition of the landscape envelope and its components. PLO 08. Apply models, methods, and data of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Ecology, Mathematics, information technologies, etc. when studying natural processes of formation and development of geospheres. PLO 12. Develop projects and practical recommendations in the field of earth sciences, educational projects, and local development projects.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
This course is based on the knowledge of the school chemistry course (the concept of the mole, Avogadro's law and classes of inorganic compounds, the theory of electrolytic dissociation, the structure of the atom), physics (gas laws, the structure of the atom, electricity, magnetism) and mathematics (equations and systems of equations, operations with powers and roots, average values, natural and decimal logarithms, proportionality).
Course content
This course examines the basic concepts and laws of general chemistry: the structure of the atom, regularities of the properties of elements in the periodic table of D.I. Mendeleev, on the basis of which the types of chemical bonding and its influence on the chemical properties of compounds of elements are considered. Students learn to consciously compose equations of chemical reactions involving compounds of elements that belong to different classes of inorganic compounds: oxides, bases, acids, amphoteric hydroxides, and salts. Coordination compounds and their importance in natural processes. Patterns of chemical processes. Theory of solutions and their chemical properties. An understanding of redox processes is given based on the position of elements in the Periodic Table.
