Learning outcomes
To know: general scientific and geographical principles of the formation of rural geography; the place of rural geography in the system of geographical sciences and connections with other sciences; methodology of rural geography; the place and role of the natural environment in the development of rural areas demographic factors of rural development geographical differences of established economic types in rural areas; geographical features of the quality of life and accessibility of services in rural areas, etc. To be able to: analyze the interaction of the city and the countryside; determine regional differences in the development of rural areas; determine strategic directions for the development of rural areas

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Human Geography", "Economic Geography", "Social Geography", "Geography of Ukraine". 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, economic and social geography, concepts of regional development. 3. Possession of skills in analyzing the development of the territory.
Course content
Methodological approaches to the study of rural areas of Ukraine are proposed. The characteristics of the development of rural areas of Ukraine are described. The principles of geographical analysis and synthesis of knowledge regarding the development of rural areas are revealed. A comprehensive analysis of nature, population, economy, and their interaction in rural areas of Ukraine is carried out.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with a test. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating the work in seminar classes and answers to thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminar classes is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminar classes. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
