Learning outcomes
To know: Terminological apparatus of the content of globalization processes, post-industrial economy, localization, metropolitanization, agglomeration; Theoretical principles and organizational structure of city management; Legal principles of local self-government; Fundamentals of the local self-government system in Ukraine; Problems of urban development in the political, administrative, economic, social, environmental spheres, problems of spatial development of cities, etc. To be able to: Carry out a systematic analysis of city problems based on the collection, registration and processing of data using appropriate methods and technological means; Identify global trends and problems of development of urban settlements in the world, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Human Geography", "Economic Geography", "Introduction to Urban Studies", "Geography of Ukraine", "World Geography: Cities and Regions", "Methods of Urban Research", "Assessment of the Impact of the Natural Environment", "Theory and Practice of Planning"; 2. knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social, economic and urban geography, features of the development of cities in different countries of the world and Ukraine; 3. ability to apply theoretical knowledge in practice and understanding of the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of urbanized systems; 4. mastery of the skills of general scientific methods and specific socio-geographical methods of scientific knowledge.
Course content
The discipline "Urban Development Problems Seminar" develops and improves knowledge of urban geography. The main problems of spatial evolution of cities and urban systems, the features of spatial development and functioning of cities under globalization are presented. The latest approaches in the urban management system are revealed, the mechanisms and tools of local development aimed at solving the problems of urban economic, social and spatial development are highlighted. The latest ways of solving problems by means of involving the public in participation in making management decisions are analyzed.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with a test. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
