The defense of the bachelor's qualification work involves the verification of the following program learning outcomes: use information technologies, cartographic and geoinformation models in the fields of the subject area of ​​geographical sciences; apply models, methods and data of natural and social sciences, information technologies, etc. in studying the formation and development of objects and processes of the geographical envelope; carry out research on the geographical envelope and its spheres using quantitative and qualitative methods of analysis; analyze the composition and structure of natural and social geographical objects and systems (according to specialization) at different spatiotemporal levels; organize and generalize materials of field and laboratory research, integrate them from observation to recognition, synthesis and modeling, etc.

A bachelor's qualification work is an independent scientific research that reflects the results of acquiring theoretical knowledge and practical skills in conducting scientific research in a professional direction. It must correspond to the modern level of professional knowledge, and its topic must be relevant.

The defense procedure includes an oral presentation by the student (up to 8 minutes), the student's answers to the questions of the committee members, a brief speech by the scientific supervisor with an assessment of the student's work, the announcement of the review of the work and the student's responses to the reviewer's comments. All components of the defense are evaluated: • design and content of the bachelor's qualification work; • completeness of the presentation of the research results in the report; • mastery of the research topic when answering the questions of the members of the Examination Committee; • reviewer's assessment and response to the reviewer's comments; • response of the scientific supervisor. The final grade is given on a point and national scale.
