Learning outcomes
To know: Contemporary theories of urban studies, the content of discourse on post-socialist and neoliberal urban development, conceptualization of social-spatial inequality and segregation in cities, compact and inclusive cities, urban geopolitics.
To be able to: Apply urban studies theories to interpret and explain the processes occurring in cities of different types and with varying local contexts.

Course content
This course is aimed at systematizing and deepening knowledge of contemporary urban theories and their practical application. It focuses on several current areas of urban research, including neoliberal urban development, post-socialist transformations, compact cities, inclusive cities, socio-spatial inequality and segregation, and urban geopolitics.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester assessment: Evaluation of the content and completeness of the issues addressed during presentations in seminar sessions, participation in discussions, and writing thematic control papers. The final assessment is conducted in the form of a written exam.
