Learning outcomes
To know: concepts of regional development management; methodology of socio-geographical research of the development of the metropolitan region; planning methodology for optimal organization of the territory of the metropolitan region; geostrategization and geoplanning of the development of the metropolitan region, etc. To be able to: possess methods of collecting primary data, selecting materials for geoplanning and geostrategization of the development of the metropolitan region; possess skills in applying urban research methods to analyze/assess the development of Kyiv and the metropolitan region; develop proposals for the development directions of the Kyiv metropolitan region, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Human Geography", "Economic Geography", "Social Geography", "Introduction to Urban Studies", "Geography of Ukraine", "Methods of Urban Research". 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, economic geography, social geography. 3. Possession of skills in spatial development analysis, methods of urban research.
Course content
The features of the structure and socio-economic development of the Capital Region, strategizing and planning the development of its territory are revealed. The prerequisites and resource base of the development of the Kyiv Metropolitan Region, spatial differences in human potential, the sectoral and territorial structure of the economic complex, the humanitarian sphere, the development of housing development, eco-networks, tourism and recreation in the region are analyzed. The socio-geographic approaches to strategizing and planning the territory of the Kyiv Metropolitan Region at different hierarchical levels are revealed.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with a test. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating work in practical classes and performing thematic tests. Assessment organization: Work in practical classes is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
