Learning outcomes
Understand the basic principles and approaches of the theory of geoinformatics and GIS, remote sensing; Identify GIS functions and the main areas of their application; Have knowledge of input resources and materials for the functioning of GIS; Understand the specifics and structure of geodata as the information basis of GIS; Understand the basics of GIS analysis of spatial data; Be able to work with technical specifications of computer equipment and software in the field of GIS; Be able to carry out work on georeferencing input materials; Carry out a number of analytical procedures for spatial analysis of geodata, etc.

1. Successful mastery of the course material Methods of Urban Research, Theory and Practice of Planning.
2. Knowledge of basic geographical theories and concepts.
3. Knowledge and understanding of the basic spatio-temporal patterns of relationships and relations in the "man - environment" system.
Course content
The academic discipline is an integral part of the professional knowledge in the field of information technologies for collecting, accumulating, processing, analyzing, modeling and making decisions necessary for specialists in the field of urban development and urban planning. Studying the discipline allows students to master the knowledge and skills in analyzing, modeling, optimizing, generalizing and disseminating information using modern information technologies. Partial educational goals of the discipline are to provide in-depth knowledge of the concept of formalized representation of geoobjects and phenomena using GIS and remote sensing technologies, theoretical, methodological and technological foundations of geoinformatics as a scientific discipline and field of practical activity, methodology and methods of digital mapping in the GIS environment, means of integrating remote sensing, GIS and Internet technologies, development of interactive maps, analysis of spatial information, modeling of resource provision and environmental conditions in order to make rational management decisions.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with a test.
Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating work in practical classes and performing thematic tests.
Organization of assessment: Work in practical classes is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
