Learning outcomes
Know: concepts of human interaction with nature on a local and global scale; concepts of biotic regulation and economic capacity of the biosphere; concepts of ecological safety, factors of emergencies; risk assessment and management, risk factors in cities; the essence of environmental assessment, strategic environmental assessment and eco-audit, EA in Ukraine, etc.
Be able to: apply general and special geographical methods in the system of rational nature management and environmental protection activities; analyze the environmental consequences of economic activities in cities and find tools for influencing nature management entities; develop environmental management systems, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Natural Geography", "Human Geography", "Introduction to Urban Studies", "Methods of Urban Research", "Urban Ecology", "Landscape Ecology".
2. The ability to track and comprehend the development of theory and practice in the field of human-nature interaction, to establish and determine cause-and-effect relationships of phenomena and processes in the biosphere.
3. Possession of modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geographical research, the ability to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical envelope.
4. Possession of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis skills, the ability to search, process and analyze information about the natural conditions and resources of urban areas, complex natural resource potential from various sources; the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of nature management.
Course content
The discipline "Environmental Impact Assessment" highlights approaches and methods for implementing sustainable (balanced) city management. It is dedicated to the study of biotic environmental regulation, issues of environmental management and environmental protection activities in the city, tools of the economic mechanism for managing natural resources, the basics of environmental monitoring, approaches to environmental safety and risk management, as well as the latest mechanisms for implementing a sustainable development strategy based on the principles of an ecological, green, circular economy. It lays the foundation of knowledge and understanding of the system for assessing the impact of economic activity on the environment and its tools, in particular, strategic environmental assessment, as well as the importance and methodology of conducting environmental audits and environmental inspections of economic activities of objects of different hierarchical levels and different ownership rights in cities.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with an exam.
Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating work in practical classes and performing thematic tests.
Organization of assessment: Work in practical classes is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
