Learning outcomes
Know: the essence and content of urban planning as a sphere of theoretical and practical activity, as a tool of urban management. theories of urban planning; the planning system of the city; historical features of the formation and development of cities and urban planning activities, principles of forming cities of the modern era; the system of urban planning documentation, mechanisms for forming a concept and a general plan for the development of the city, etc. Be able to: apply critical thinking, analysis and synthesis of information on urban planning and urban development, search, process and analyze information from various sources; apply urban planning tools in the system of urban and regional management, identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of urban planning, etc.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Human Geography", "Introduction to Urban Studies", "Methods of Urban Research". 2. Know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geographical research and geoinformation technologies.
Course content
The discipline includes the study of the essence of urban planning, the basic concepts and principles of urban planning, the factors that determine the development and functioning of urban settlements and the formation of their planning structure, the types, structure and composition of urban planning documentation and its role in coordinating private, public, state and social interests at different territorial levels. The functional block of the discipline provides for the mastery of such components as the ability to apply basic knowledge of natural and social sciences and information technologies in the system of urban planning, the ability to apply simple quantitative and qualitative methods in the study of urban planning processes, the ability to independently research and analyze the spatial and temporal parameters of urban planning and urban planning.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were received when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
