Know: methods of processing geographic information Be able to: search and systematize socio-geographic information; form information databases in accordance with the objectives of the study; perform calculations using statistical research methods; construct graphs and charts in Excel; interpret research results, identify trends in socio-spatial processes, their causes and consequences, formulate research conclusions; conduct comparative research, identify territorial differences in certain socio-economic processes and phenomena

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful completion of the courses “Fundamentals of Human Geography”, “Economic Geography”, “Geography of Population and Settlement”, “Methods of Urban Research” and completion of “Practical Training on the Fundamentals of Field Urban Research” and “Practical Training on Methods of Obtaining Geographic Information”. 2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, location of production, population settlement, general principles of conducting scientific research, sources of geographical information, basic mathematical and statistical methods of geographical research. 3) proficiency in working with computer programs MS Word, MS Excel, software for using the Internet, as well as the ability to conduct statistical summaries and statistical groupings, calculate averages, variation values, indicators of dynamic lines and perform other basic mathematical calculations.
Course content
Students, while completing the educational task, conduct research on regions and cities, which is aimed at improving practical skills related to the systematization of information, its processing, calculations, and presentation of research results. Open sources of information from state authorities and local governments are used to conduct the analysis. Educational tasks are aimed at practicing the study of the structure and dynamics of socio-geographical processes and phenomena, as well as identifying connections between phenomena, conducting comparisons of territorial units according to certain characteristics. One of the most important goals is to develop in students the skills to describe the identified trends and draw conclusions based on the analysis of tables, graphs, and diagrams.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the Practical Training on Methods of Geographical Information Processing, 5 educational tasks are to be completed. Classes are held in the form of practical work in a computer class, as well as independent work. The discipline ends with a differentiated test. During the internship, consultations and ongoing verification of the students' task performance are carried out. The acquisition of knowledge and skills by students is also assessed during the final report review. The final assessment is carried out in the form of a differentiated test, in which students defend their analytical reports.
