Learning outcomes
Formation of knowledge of general patterns of geodemographic, ecological and geourbanization processes in the world and in Ukraine, the ability to analyze geodemographic information and apply it in further socio-geographical research, in particular knowledge and understanding of the subject area, knowledge and use of concepts and paradigms of population and settlement geography; the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of the main characteristics of population and settlement in practical situations

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Human Geography", "World Geography: Cities and Regions". 2. Understanding the role of population and settlement in the formation of geographical processes in the landscape shell, knowledge of the features of the course of demographic, ethnic and ecological processes in countries of the world of various types. 3. The ability to use various sources of information about the population, analyze information and formulate conclusions, graphically display statistical information, create map diagrams.
Course content
This academic discipline consists of two content parts. The first part is devoted to the study of theoretical provisions and results of analytical research on population geography: stages of settlement, geography of races and ethnogeography, geodemographic features of reproduction (natural and mechanical population movement), population structure, familiarization with modern population theories and regional UN forecasts, qualitative (by HDI) and socio-economic (level and quality of life) characteristics. The second part considers the geography of population settlement, namely: classification of settlements (by various characteristics), their typology, forms of settlement, processes of formation of settlement systems, agglomeration and urbanization, theory of world cities, basic provisions of geourbanism, features of settlement in rural areas and provides a description of these processes in the world and in Ukraine.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating work in practical classes and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in practical classes is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
