Know: The concept of culture, the main functions of culture; the morphology of culture; the subject field and tasks of cultural studies; stages of anthroposociogenesis; the concept of the Neolithic revolution; the problem of the emergence of language; the genesis of moral consciousness and art; periodization of culture, etc. Be able to: demonstrate knowledge of specialized literature on cultural studies; conduct cross-cultural research using the conceptual and categorical apparatus of cultural studies and the latest methods and approaches to characterize socio-cultural processes occurring in cultural regions of the world; identify the experience of generations and historical lessons in the development of ethnonation, Ukrainian nature, language, state, culture, man, etc.

Full-time form

1. Before starting this course, students should have knowledge of the main stages and characteristics of the historical and cultural process that they received in general education institutions; 2. Possess elementary skills in scientific research and information management; critical attitude and forecasting regarding cultural events and phenomena.

In the process of studying this course, the student will receive basic knowledge about the organizational and scientific and methodological support for teaching Ukrainian and foreign culture, basic knowledge about the prerequisites for the formation, genesis, main stages of development and features of foreign and Ukrainian culture; basic knowledge about the main forms of modern artistic, aesthetic and socio-cultural practices and new artistic and cultural phenomena; basic ideas about the main stages of development of world and Ukrainian art, modern scientific concepts within which their study is carried out, the main artistic trends and figures who determined their development; basic ideas about the history of the development and functioning of the Ukrainian and foreign cultural space, its genesis and current state; features of cultural systems and institutions; value-semantic and sign-communicative mechanisms that regulate the cultural practice of interaction between people and communities at each specific historical stage of development.

Lecture, seminars, individual work

The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with a test. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
