To familiarize students with the features of modern processes and strategies for the development of cities in countries and regions of the world; to develop in students the skills and abilities to analyze modern socio-economic processes in cities around the world, to identify problems and determine ways to solve them; to develop in students the skills and abilities to determine the role and place of cities in the modern world in the context of geographical factors of their development; to develop in students the skills and abilities to use the knowledge gained in researching cities around the world, to preserve and multiply cultural, scientific values ​​and achievements of society based on an understanding of the history and patterns of urban development, their role in the development of society, to understand and explain strategies for sustainable urban development

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Have basic knowledge of economic and social geography of regions and countries of the world. Be able to work with statistical information, educational and methodological and scientific literature. Have elementary skills in analyzing and synthesizing geographical information, comparative geographical analysis, be able to analyze cause-and-effect relationships between processes and phenomena.
Course content
The academic discipline "World Geography: Cities" is a component of the EP "Urban Planning and Urban Planning" for training specialists at the educational and qualification level "Bachelor" in the fields of knowledge 10 Natural Sciences in the specialty 106 Geography. The discipline "World Geography: Cities" is a mandatory educational component and is taught to students in the second semester of the first year in the amount of 3 ECTS credits. The academic discipline "World Geography: Cities" is dedicated to the study of cities of countries and regions of the world. It includes the study of modern processes in cities of the world, approaches to the development of eco-cities, smart cities, creative cities, global cities of the world, the specifics of the development of cities of countries, regions and parts of the world. The academic discipline "World Geography: Cities" is designed to form in students an idea of ​​​​the diversity of modern processes and strategies in the development of cities and countries of the world in different regions.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were received when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests. Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
