Learning outcomes
Know: theoretical and methodological foundations of regional economic and social geography, basic terms, concepts and categories of the discipline, the essence of modern processes of economic development of foreign countries, integration economic and political associations; existing scientific approaches to the typology of the world's countries; the influence of natural resource potential on the development and location of the economic complex of countries and regions of the world; features of the development and location of the economy and population of countries and regions of the world; internal differences and cities, their functions and specialization, etc.
Be able to: give a comprehensive characteristic of the socio-geographical position of countries and regions; analyze the natural resource potential of countries and regions and the problems of its rational use.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful completion of the courses "Human Geography", "Introduction to Urban Studies";
2) know modern methods of geographical research, have skills in working with cartographic sources, computer programs Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and software for using the Internet.
Course content
Students study the patterns and factors of the territorial organization of society and its components at the level of subregions of the world, geographical problems of the spatial organization of the regional economy. The features of the territorial (international) division of labor, the placement of productive forces within the studied regions, regional policy, territorial organization of production, geopolitics and geostrategy of the regions of the world, spatial socio-economic proportions, territorial socio-economic structures, transport and infrastructure networks and systems, as well as settlement systems within the regions of the world are considered.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and seminars. The discipline ends with an exam.
Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were received when evaluating the work in seminars and performing thematic tests.
Organization of assessment: Work in seminars is assessed by performance, in accordance with the schedule of seminars. Thematic tests are carried out in the form of a test.
