Learning outcomes
LO06. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres, including the pedosphere.
LO10. To analyze the composition and structure of the pedosphere on different spatial and temporal scales
LO13. Be able to convey the results of activities to a professional audience and the general public, make presentations and messages.
LO14. To participate in the development of projects and practical recommendations in the field of Earth sciences, in particular in matters of soil science, land management and territorial planning.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) successful mastery of such educational disciplines as "Soil science", "Soil research", "Soil physics", "Soil chemistry", "Soil cover and land resources of the world", "Genesis and morphology of soils", "Methods of soil science research", " Soils of Ukraine"; 2) mastery of soil research methods; 3) skills in working with cartographic materials.
Course content
The educational discipline consists of two content modules. The first of them is devoted to the study of soils and land resources, the problem of their protection and rational use for the territory of Polissia and Forest Steppe.
The second module consists of two parts, the first reveals issues related to soils and land resources, problems of their protection and rational use for the territory of the dry and wet steppe. In the second part of this module, the issues of genesis and typification of soils, rational use and protection of land resources of mountainous areas - the Ukrainian Carpathians and the Mountainous Crimea - are considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical classes, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
Surveys in test and written form of practical and independent work, modular control works. The final assessment in the form of credit is conducted in writing. The maximum number of points is 40, the minimum number of points to be added to semester marks is 24.
Students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 30 points are not allowed to pass the test. The recommended minimum for admission is 36 points. For students who scored a total of less than 30 points, writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the test.
