Course content
This academic discipline is devoted to the study of general provisions on surface water bodies of Ukraine as physical and geographical units that make up a significant part of the unified state water fund. Surface waters, as the most important part of the unified state water fund, include natural water bodies (rivers, lakes) and artificial water bodies (reservoirs, ponds, canals). An important feature of Ukraine's surface waters is that they constitute the majority of the state's water resources, i.e., a resource used by economic sectors and for the needs of the population. The discipline consists of two content modules. Content module 1 is devoted to the analysis of the general regularities of the formation of surface runoff in the territory of Ukraine, issues of hydrological, hydrochemical, hydrographic and water management zoning. The characteristics of surface waters in river basins and an overview of the lakes of Ukraine are given. The second content module examines artificial reservoirs, analyzes the characteristics of water resources and the water fund of Ukraine, problems of surface water pollution and ways to solve them.
