Course content
This academic discipline is devoted to the study of basic principles and approaches to data and geodata management, particularly in the context of the implementation of fundamental and applied natural and geographical research. The discipline is aimed at forming in students the skills of searching, critical evaluation, preparation, organization and distribution of geodata from various sources in order to solve theoretical, methodological and applied problems in the field of natural geography. Issues of open data and ethics of data dissemination, as an important component of modern research, are separate component disciplines. The functional unit of the discipline provides familiarity with the main formats and sources of geodata, practice of working with metadata for effective search and use of data in order to master the skills of effective work with geoinformation technologies for modeling processes and phenomena in landscapes, assessment of the state of geoecosystems and their components, independent planning and implementation research starting from the stage of searching for geodata and ending with the stage of presenting the results to interested parties.
