Learning outcomes
1. Use information technologies, cartographic and geo-information models in the field of Earth sciences, in particular in soil science (PR04) 2. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technologies, etc. when studying natural processes of formation and development of geospheres (PR07) 3. To be able to carry out studies of geospheres using quantitative methods of analysis (PR09) 4. Be able to choose optimal methods and tools for research, data collection and processing (PR15)

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know the key provisions of informatics, cartography and general geographic disciplines. 2. To be able to apply mathematical methods in geography. 3. Have the skills to work in an information and network environment.
Course content
Concepts of spatial analysis as the basis of modern geography and geo-informational data structures and their models are considered. Approaches to input, storage, selection, editing and output of geographically coordinated data, manipulation of these data and their spatial analysis are given.

Assessment methods and criteria
Test, performance of creative analytical work, exam. The discipline ends with an exam in the form of a written test. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam). Students who scored a total of fewer points than the critical minimum are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points.
