LO01. Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. LO06. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres, including the pedosphere. LO07. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technology, etc. when studying natural processes of formation and development of the pedosphere. LO10. To analyze the composition and structure of geospheres at different spatial and temporal scales
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of school geography at the level of secondary education.
Course content
The content of the discipline reveals the issues of various subject areas of modern geology: geophysics, geochemistry, general, dynamic and historical geology, geotectonics. The structure of the discipline involves three content modules. Module 1 reveals the significance of the Earth's geophysical characteristics in the development and functioning of the geographic envelope, introduces modern models of the structure of the globe and the lithosphere, and their material composition. Special attention is paid to theoretical and practical issues of diagnosing minerals and rocks. Module 2 is devoted to the study of the processes of external and internal geodynamics, their connection with physical and geographical conditions and structures of the earth's crust. Module 3 is devoted to the study of historical geology: the scientific basis of the Earth's periodization, methods of reconstructing the history of its development; main geostructures of the earth's crust and features of their evolution.
