Course content
The training practice consists of three stages: 1) introductory and preparatory; 2) main - route; 3) desk (final). At the first stage of the practice, the teacher acquaints students with the route and program of the practice, gives them an introductory lecture, advises on the effective organization of expeditionary field research, conducts safety instructions, etc. Also, at the preparatory stage of the practice, a detailed route is developed and its complex geographical analysis is carried out according to a certain plan, objects of field observations, places of laying soil sections are planned. Briefing on the form of clothing, equipment and safety precautions during the routes is mandatory. The route stage of the practice is carried out according to a specific plan. During this stage, students get acquainted with the peculiarities of the natural and anthropogenic landscapes of the place of practice, study in detail the physical-geographical, socio-geographical and economic-geographical features of the selected objects, conduct field research. An obligatory element of each route is a lecture, which outlines the main issues that will be illustrated in the further route. The routes are carried out on foot in radial directions from the reserve and by bus to remote soil sections. During the routes, students keep a field diary, in which they record all the field research, describe the objects under study, make micromonoliths of soil sections, and acquire practical skills in taking soil samples for analytical work. The practice ends with a desk period, during which students process the collected field material, systematize and summarize it, make reasonable conclusions. The practice ends with a report, which is defended at the department according to the plan. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
Recommended or required reading and other learning resources/tools
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of the route-field part of the practice and participation in desk work, in particular in the preparation, execution and defense of the final report (differentiated test).
Planned learning activities and teaching methods
- current assessment: the number of points received by the student during the internship is the sum of the points received during the assessment: 1) oral answers and practical tasks during the routes; 2) keeping a field diary; 3) participation in the preparation and execution of the report. - The final evaluation in the form of a test takes place in the form of a defense of the final report. The maximum number of points received at the test is 40 points, the minimum number of points added to the current ones is 27 points. - conditions for admission to the test: students who have scored a total of less points than the critical minimum of 20 points are not allowed to take the test. The recommended minimum for admission is 33 points.
