Course content
The goal of the discipline is to provide students with a systematic understanding of rivers, as one of the main components of the Earth's hydrosphere. The student must have a good idea of the place and role of rivers in the functioning of ecosystems, the importance of water resources, the essence of hydrological processes that occur in rivers and their contribution to the formation of landscapes, must possess a system of scientific knowledge and research methods in the field of hydrology, issues of applying hydrological knowledge in practice.
The educational discipline is devoted to the study of the theoretical and methodological foundations of river hydrology, in particular, in terms of the following main issues: general characteristics and distribution of rivers, their water balance and level regime, types of river water movement, formation of river flow and its characteristics, thermal and ice regime of rivers, chemical composition of waters, their hydrobiological regime, formation conditions and composition of river sediments.
The educational discipline "Hydrology of rivers" is a component of the comprehensive training of specialists of the educational and qualification level "bachelor" in the specialty 103 "Earth Sciences" of the educational program "Management and Ecology of Water Resources".

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, practical, independent work
Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after the completion of the relevant topics, thematic written control papers with open questions are conducted. It is mandatory for the exam to write test papers according to content modules, to complete all practical works. For students who scored a total of less than the critical calculation minimum - 36 points, writing essays on insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
Students who, during the semester, scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 20 points are not allowed to take the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points. Evaluation is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work.
