Learning outcomes
The learning outcomes are to form in students a holistic system of knowledge about the prerequisites, features and tasks of territorial planning; to familiarize students with the methodology and principles of territorial planning at different hierarchical levels; characteristics of territorial planning in foreign countries. As a result of studying the discipline, students must master theoretical approaches and practical aspects of territorial planning, learn to analyze the existing system of territorial planning, in particular: analyze the features of modern territorial planning in Ukraine; assess the current state and role of territorial planning in rational environmental management, regional management and implementation of the reform of the ATU of Ukraine; the ability to combine methods of territorial planning and socio-geographic forecasting for the purpose of harmonious development of Ukraine and its regions.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, regional development management and methods of spatial analysis, geographic modeling; Ability to assess and analyze the current state of social and economic development of territories of different hierarchical levels; Possession of elementary skills of social and geographical planning, methods of social and geographical research, and methods of compiling a social and geographical characteristic of a territory.
Course content
The academic discipline "Territorial Planning" is dedicated to the study of theoretical and applied aspects of territorial planning; modern directions of territorial planning at different hierarchical levels; tasks and principles of territorial planning; problems of improving the administrative-territorial structure of Ukraine. It highlights the applied aspects of planning the territories of Ukraine, mechanisms for implementing territorial planning, features of the development and implementation of planning documentation (development schemes of territories, general plans of settlements, detailed plans of territories) in the modern conditions of reforming the ATU of Ukraine. This discipline is designed to prove the objectivity and necessity of implementing comprehensive territorial planning by economic geographers in order to prevent a predatory attitude to the resource potential of the territory, destructive processes in the economic and social development of the regions of Ukraine, strengthening the differentiation of the development of territories, and justifying ways to harmonize the interaction of society, nature and territory.

Assessment methods and criteria
Assessment is carried out throughout the semester on all types of work, including answers to seminar classes, independent work and individual creative tasks. Thematic tests are carried out throughout the semester in the form of questions with detailed answers after completing the consideration of the relevant topics. The acquisition of knowledge and skills by students is also assessed during their speeches at seminars, participation in discussions, and preparation of independent works on given topics. The final assessment is carried out in the form of a written exam.
