Learning outcomes
The objective of the discipline is to acquire deep theoretical and applied political and geographical knowledge by familiarizing students with the history of the formation and the current state of the source and theoretical and methodological base of political geography, its diverse problems. As a result of studying the discipline, students should obtain comprehensive knowledge about: the conceptual and terminological apparatus of science, its concepts, paradigms, theories and ideas; the state and other territorial and political systems as an object of study of political geography at different spatial and temporal levels; the impact of globalization and other processes on the components of the political sphere of public life; the importance of democracy for the successful development of the state and the positioning of man.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastery of the disciplines "Social Geography", "Geographical and Regional Studies", "Geography of Culture and Religion", "Geography of the Countries of the Global North", "Geography of the Countries of the Global South" 2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social and social geography, socio-political studies. 3. Possession of the skills of analysis, synthesis, situation modeling, forecasting, comparison and other methods of socio-geographical research.
Course content
Information is provided on the stages of formation and the contribution of individual foreign and domestic researchers to the formation of the theoretical and methodological basis of political geography; the evolution of paradigms, theories and concepts of science. The modern structure of political geography is revealed. The political and geographical aspects of globalization and the structure of the modern political map of the world are analyzed. A sovereign state is considered as an integral territorial and political system. Scientific approaches to the political and geographical study of the state territory, borders, political and geographical position, internal geospatial structure, and capital are highlighted. The general features of the political geography of Ukraine and regions of the world are considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods

Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of work in seminars, writing 2 final tests, quizzes, passing a case study and nomenclature. The specific weight of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided that they are mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: learning outcomes – 1 (knowledge) – up to 40%; learning outcomes – 2 (skills) – up to 40%; learning outcomes – 3 (communication) – up to 10%; learning outcomes – 4 (autonomy and responsibility) – up to 10%. The discipline ends with an exam. During the semester, after completing the relevant topics, final tests are held. Final tests are held in writing in the form of tests and open-ended questions and are designed to identify the knowledge and skills obtained when mastering the relevant topics. Each of the works is evaluated at a maximum of 10 points. The exam is held in writing in the form of detailed and test tasks.
