Learning outcomes
Providing students with general and professional competencies provided for by the educational program "Economic Geography", in particular: forming in students an understanding of the essence of the service sector as an object of interdisciplinary and geographical scientific research, the ability to determine, formulate and solve problems of its territorial organization, the ability to preserve and multiply moral, cultural, scientific values and achievements of society based on an understanding of the history of development and patterns of the territorial organization of the service sector, the place of the geography of services in the general system of knowledge and geographical science, knowledge and ability to use theories, paradigms and concepts specific to this discipline.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Introduction to University Studies", "Social Geography", "Economic Geography", "Geography of Population and Settlement", "Geographic Cartography", "Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Geography".
2. Be able to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical envelope, develop, manage and control projects of a geographical and interdisciplinary nature, evaluate and ensure the quality of work, be able to carry out a comprehensive assessment and monitoring of resources, predict the development of geographical processes and phenomena;
3. Know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geographical research, be able to apply them in production and research activities; be able to model objects and processes using modern quantitative and qualitative methods and geoinformation technologies.
Course content
The academic discipline is dedicated to the study of service activities at the local, national, and international levels. The discipline is aimed at forming in students special professional, social, and personal competencies, accumulating knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis, and synthesis, the ability to search, process, and analyze information from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate, and solve problems in the development and placement of the service sector. The theoretical and methodological block of the discipline involves studying the essence of service activities, its specifics, classification; basic theories, categories, and concepts of the geography of services; patterns, principles, and factors of the placement and development of the service sector, methods of its research, and the specifics of the organization of services in cities and rural areas. The block dedicated to the territorial organization of services in the world and Ukraine studies the general trends in the development of the world service market, its industry markets, the features of the development and placement of functional blocks of the service sector in Ukraine, and the problems and directions of their reform.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lectures, seminars, analytical reports, discussions, solving specific tasks and situations.
Total volume – 120 hours, including:
lectures – 30 hours;
practical classes – 15 hours,
independent work – 75 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of seminar classes, tasks for independent work, including presentations, writing written tests, participation in discussions Semester assessment: the share of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided that they are mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: learning outcomes – 1.1 – 1.9 (knowledge) – up to 5% for each; learning outcomes – 2 (skills) - up to 35%; learning outcomes – 3 (communication) - up to 10%; learning outcomes – 4 (autonomy and responsibility) – up to 10%.
Final assessment in the form of an exam: the exam is given to the student based on the results of work during the semester and examination assessment. The maximum number of points that a student can receive in the exam is 40 points (on a 100-point scale).
