The study of the discipline consists in students acquiring in-depth skills in using regional research methods during socio-geographical research: knowledge of regional research methods, understanding their essence, specifics and principles of application; the ability to apply regional research methods to solve applied problems of regional and urban development management at different spatial and temporal scales; the ability to use information and communication technologies when collecting data for regional research and presenting the results obtained; the ability to search, systematize and critically interpret spatially localized information from various sources and determine the possibility and feasibility of its analysis using specific methods of regional research; the ability to carry out individual and collective (project-oriented) research, including interdisciplinary ones.

Full-time form

1. Successful completion of the courses "Human Geography", "Mathematical and Statistical Methods in Geography", "Economic Geography", "Geography of Population and Settlement", "Teaching Practice in Methods of Obtaining Geographic Information"; 2. Possession of basic skills in the application of general scientific methods, system-structural analysis, construction of cartographic images, ability to perform simple mathematical calculations; 3. Possession of basic tools of computer programs of the MS Office package (in particular, MS Word, MS Excel), cartographic online services (Google Maps).

This academic discipline is dedicated to studying the essence of regional research methods, their classification, features and areas of application. The discipline is aimed at developing skills in the practical application of regional analysis methods in solving scientific, theoretical and applied problems. Lectures, practical work, term paper

Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. All types of work are assessed during the semester - attending lectures, performing and defending practical classes, preparing and defending coursework. The specific weight of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided that they are mastered at the proper level, is as follows: learning outcomes - 1 (knowledge) - up to 42%; learning outcomes - 2 (skills) - up to 42%; learning outcomes - 3 (communication) - up to 8%; learning outcomes - 4 (autonomy and responsibility) - up to 8% 7.1 Forms of student assessment: The course provides for 4 substantive parts, combined into 2 substantive blocks. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with a test.
