Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the discipline, students must master theoretical approaches, patterns and principles of location and regional economics, learn to analyze existing theories of location and regional economics based on foreign and domestic scientific research, in particular: to familiarize students with the essence and structure of the productive forces of society; to study the main foreign and domestic theories of location and regional economics; to familiarize students with the effect of the main theories of location and regional economics on the formation of the modern structure of the economy; to form the ability to analyze the impact of modern theories of location and regional economics on the economic and social development of regions based on the use of modern research methods.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1) basic knowledge of economic and social geography, successful mastering of the course “Social Geography”; 2) knowledge of the theoretical foundations of social geography, production location, technical and economic foundations of production; 3) ability to analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical envelope; 4) mastery of skills in working with cartographic sources, computer programs Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, software for using the Internet.
Course content
The academic discipline is devoted to the study of foreign and domestic theories of location and regional economy. Theoretical and methodological approaches to the location of agriculture, industry, services and consumption, and the spatial organization of the economy of regions are considered. The study of theoretical approaches and methods of research on development and location makes it possible to study natural, economic and social processes in their kinship, differences and historical development. The discipline is aimed at forming in students special social and personal competencies, accumulation of knowledge about the possibility of critical thinking, analysis and synthesis, the ability to search, process and analyze information from various sources, the ability to identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of location and regional economy. Separate components of the discipline are the study of the essence of regional economy and the formation of regional science, the basic principles and factors that determine the development and location of the productive forces of society.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 substantive parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures, seminars, and independent creative work performed in the format of a presentation. The discipline ends with a test. During the semester, after completing the relevant topics, thematic written tests with open questions are conducted. The recommended minimum for admission to the test is 36 points. For students who have not reached the minimum threshold level of assessment during the semester (60% of the maximum possible number of points), a final semester test is conducted, the maximum score for which cannot exceed 40% of the final grade (up to 40 points on a 100-point scale). The condition for obtaining a positive final grade in the discipline is achieving at least 60% of the maximum possible number of points, while the score for learning outcomes cannot be less than 50% of the maximum level.
