Learning outcomes
The objectives of the discipline are to form knowledge and understanding of the subject area, an idea of the global process of state formation in individual regions of the world, the ability to analyze the composition and structure of territorial-political systems as a component of the geosphere on different spatial-temporal scales; to consolidate the conceptual and terminological apparatus related to territorial-political systems and the political map of the world and the ability to search, process and analyze information about them from various sources (ZK7), including in foreign languages; to show the interaction between changes in the political map and world economic relations; to provide detailed information about historical and modern forms of state and political-territorial order, stages of formation and the modern political map and its prospects

1. Successful mastery of the disciplines "Geographical and Regional Studies", "Social Geography".
2. Be able to determine and analyze the general causes, course and consequences of socio-geographical processes and historical events.
3. Possess the skills of analysis, synthesis, situation modeling, forecasting, comparison, and working with cartographic material.
Course content
This academic discipline is devoted to the study of changes in the political map of the world in different historical periods. The concept of "political map of the world" and its structure are revealed. Information is provided about the dynamics and basic components of the political map of the world in Antiquity and the Middle Ages; features of the formation and dynamics of colonial empires; changes in the political map and system of international relations after the Peace of Westphalia, the Vienna and Berlin Congresses, the Versailles-Washington and Yalta-Potsdam systems of peace treaties; stages of decolonization. The modern structure of the political map of Europe, Asia, Africa, America, Oceania is detailed. Attention is focused on the influence of modern socio-geographical processes on the structure and prospects of the political map of the world.

Assessment methods and criteria
During the semester, after completing the relevant topics, final tests are conducted (the first includes topics 1-7, the second - 8-14). Final tests are conducted in the form of tests and open questions and are designed to identify the knowledge gained when mastering the relevant topics. Each of the works is evaluated at a maximum of 10 points. Students who received less than the minimum number of points for the final test are retaken. At lectures and seminars, to identify the level of mastery of relevant knowledge during the semester, blitz polls are conducted, which ultimately form up to 5 points (the final score is the arithmetic average of all polls, each of which is evaluated at 5 points). Seminars are held according to the working curriculum according to the prescribed schedule. Some seminars involve mastering certain topics and consolidating certain skills. Each speech at the seminar and active participation in the discussion of issues is evaluated on a 5-point scale.
