Learning outcomes
The course aims to provide students with in-depth theoretical knowledge of the typology of countries of the world on various grounds, highlighting the main stages of political map formation, understanding the main characteristics, processes, history of development and composition of the studied sub-regions of the world. Be able to analyze information from various sources on the dynamics, trends, patterns and prospects of economic, social and political processes in the countries of the Global South.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of the school course “Geography”, the discipline “Geographical Country and Local History”, educational practice on methods of acquiring geographical information; be able to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the features of natural and social processes in the geographical environment, develop, manage and manage projects of geographical and interdisciplinary orientation, evaluate and ensure the quality of work, be able to carry out a comprehensive assessment and monitoring of resources, predict the development of geographical processes and phenomena; to know the theoretical foundations of social geography, location of production, population, natural resource potential; to know modern quantitative and qualitative methods of geographical research, to be able to apply them in production and research activities, to have skills in working with cartographic sources, computer programs Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and software for using the Internet.
Course content
The regularities and factors of the territorial organization of society and its components at the level of sub-regions of the Global South, geographical problems of the spatial organization of the regional economy are described. The features of the territorial (international) division of labor, the location of productive forces within the studied regions, regional policy, territorial organization of production, geopolitics and geostrategy of the world's regions, spatial socio-economic proportions, territorial socio-economic structures, transport and infrastructure networks and systems, as well as settlement systems within the regions of the world are considered.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, independent work, discussion.
The total amount of 150 hours, including:

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 content parts. Classes are conducted in the form of lectures and seminars, and individual assignments are provided in the format of preparation and delivery of presentations. The course ends with an exam. Semester assessment: the number of points a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points obtained in the assessment of seminar results, surveys and module tests. The proportion of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided it is mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: learning outcomes 1.1-1.12 (knowledge) - up to 48%; learning outcomes 2.1-2.8 (skills) - up to 32%; learning outcomes 3.1-3.2 (communication) - up to 10%; learning outcomes 4.1-4.2 (autonomy and responsibility) - up to 10%.
