Learning outcomes
Formation of general and special professional competencies, namely the ability to apply knowledge in practical situations (ZK1); communicate in the state language both orally and in writing when studying the features of South America, Africa and Antarctica (ZK3); search, analyze and process information from various sources (ZK7); analyze the composition and structure of geospheres (in accordance with specialization) at different spatial and temporal scales (SK5); independently investigate natural materials and statistical data (in accordance with specialization) in field and laboratory conditions, describe, analyze, document and report on the results (SK8); identify and classify known and register new objects in the geographical envelope, their properties and processes inherent in them (SK10).

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful completion of the course "Relief and Geological Structure Research", "Biogeographic and Soil Research", "Geography of Eurasia, North America and Australia". Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of the formation of natural patterns of geographical zoning and altitudinal zonation. Possession of the skills of analysis, synthesis, induction and deduction.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at forming in students deep comprehensive knowledge about the peculiarities of the nature of South America, Africa and Antarctica. Special attention when studying the course is directed to the analysis of natural conditions and resources, the issue of preserving flora, fauna and natural landscapes in general. It contributes to the acquisition of skills of orientation in space and time, allows to expand the geographical picture of the world

Lectures, seminars, independent work Total volume 150 hours. Lectures – 28 hours, Seminars – 28 hours, Independent work – 94 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of presentations at seminars and writing test papers (test tasks). Assessment is carried out throughout the semester for all types of work, including independent work. The specific weight of learning outcomes in the final assessment, provided that they are mastered at the appropriate level, is as follows: learning outcomes – 1.1 – 1.9 (knowledge) – up to 55% learning outcomes – 2 (skills) - up to 20%; learning outcomes – 3 (communication) - up to 5%; learning outcomes – 4 (autonomy and responsibility) - up to 20%
