Learning outcomes
To familiarize students with the essence and theoretical foundations of creating geographical maps (including topographic maps and plans) as figurative and symbolic models of reality; to teach them to correctly apply the methodological tools of using general geographical and thematic maps to solve scientific and practical problems; to develop the ability to collect, register and analyze various types of data using observation, measurement, etc. methods, as well as technological and software products in field and office conditions; to form the ability to apply a systematic approach when studying the main theoretical and practical provisions of the course.

The curriculum of the academic discipline consists of the following thematic parts: ‒ Part 1. Map as a model of reality. ‒ Part 2. Design, creation and use of maps.

Assessment methods and criteria
The course includes 2 thematic parts. Classes are held in the form of lectures and practical classes. The discipline ends with a test. Semester assessment: the number of points that a student receives during the semester is the sum of the points that were obtained when evaluating work in practical classes, independent work and tests. Assessment organization: Work in practical classes is assessed upon completion, in accordance with the schedule of practical classes. Learning outcomes, provided they are mastered at the appropriate level, are assessed as follows: practical work - minimum score 10, maximum 20; tests - 20-30 points; independent work - 5-10 points.
