Learning outcomes
Knowledge and understanding of the essence and theoretical foundations of biogeography, genetic soil science and soil geography; mastering the basic conceptual and terminological apparatus for the formation and distribution of communities of living organisms and basic soil types; developing the ability to use theoretical professional knowledge of biogeographic and soil science research in practical situations and in accordance with specialization; developing the ability to apply knowledge and understanding of basic spatial and temporal characteristics, processes, history of formation and composition of communities of living organisms, soils, features of soil and vegetation cover, etc., in particular, to establish patterns of distribution of plant communities and soil types based on the analysis of environmental factors;

Prerequisites and co-requisites
Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of basic geographical theories and concepts. Knowledge and understanding of the basic spatial and temporal patterns of the structure of the geographical shell and the scale of its perception for orientation in geographical space.
Course content
This discipline is devoted to the study of the basic principles of biogeography, in particular the laws, patterns of distribution of living organisms and their communities in space and time, depending on their adaptive capabilities and the impact of environmental factors on them, as well as the basic principles of soil geography, in particular the study of soil as an independent natural and historical body that ensures the existence of life on Earth, its properties and the main patterns of geographical distribution of soils and the formation of soil cover structures.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, practical work, independent work The total volume is 90 hours: Lectures - 28 hours. Seminars - 14 hours. Independent work - 48 hours.
Assessment methods and criteria
The level of achievement of all planned learning outcomes is determined by the results of writing test tasks, performing practical, independent work and writing thematic control papers. Semester assessment: 1. thematic control works (tests): ELO 1.1-1.10 (knowledge) 40 points/10 points. 2. Practical work: ELO 2.1-2.7; (knowledge and skills); 3.2; 4.2. (communication, autonomy and responsibility) 60 points/30 points. Final assessment in the form of a test, which is based on the results of the student's work throughout the semester and does not provide for additional assessment measures for successful students. Organization of assessment: assessment is carried out during the semester. Practical works are submitted at each practical lesson or within the period specified by the The grade for papers submitted after the deadline is 50% of the maximum number of points. Thematic tests are conducted in the form of blitz tests in weeks 5-6 and 11-12 of the course.
