Learning outcomes
Collect, process and analyze information in the field of earth sciences. Determine the main characteristics, processes, history and composition of the Earth as a planetary system and its geospheres. Apply models, methods and data of physics, chemistry, biology, ecology, mathematics, information technologies, etc. when studying natural processes of geosphere formation and development. Analyze the composition and structure of geospheres (in accordance with the specialization) in different spatio-temporal scales.
Form of study
Full-time form
Prerequisites and co-requisites
There is none.
Course content
The study of the discipline is aimed at students mastering the most important concepts of general, dynamic and historical geology, the foundations of geophysics and geochemistry, namely, it aims to: - to get acquainted with the history of the development of geological thought and modern ideas about the structure, material composition and functioning of the lithosphere; - form an idea about the material composition of the earth's crust, the skills of diagnosing minerals and rocks in laboratory and field conditions; - teach to recognize the manifestations of modern and signs of ancient geodynamic processes in nature; - to familiarize with the scientific principles of historical geology, methods of reconstruction of ancient processes and the importance of studying ancient processes for forecasting the development of the earth's shells in the future; - to develop skills in working with geological maps of Quaternary deposits and other accompanying materials as important sources of information in soil geography.

Assessment methods and criteria
Semester evaluation: the number of points that the student receives during the term of studying the discipline is the sum of the points obtained during the evaluation of the completed laboratory work, survey and writing of modular control papers. Conditions for admission to the exam: the recommended minimum for admission is 30 points. For students who scored a total of less than 30 points (recommended minimum), writing essays on missed or insufficiently mastered topics is a mandatory condition for admission to the exam. The final evaluation in the form of an exam is conducted in writing. The maximum number of points on the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points added to the semester ones is 30 points.
