To be able to analyze social and political phenomena, to interpret them from the standpoint of modern sociological and political knowledge PR02 PR13 To be able to explain the essence of current social and political problems, conflicts of modern society, their conditions and factors of occurrence PR02 3. and 4. To be included in the circle of current problems of social, socio-political and professional activity. Be ready to critically evaluate knowledge about socio-political phenomena and processes, which is presented in the mass consciousness and in mass media publications, for the validity of PR02 PR13

Prerequisites and co-requisites
‒ know the basic concepts of logic and methodology of scientific research. ‒ possess elementary skills of abstracting and analysis of scientific, statistical and analytical publications.
Course content
The discipline is aimed at revealing the peculiarities of sociological and political knowledge about society, models of social order and interactions, basic dimensions and problems of modern society, the logic of its development, socio-cultural and political-cultural characteristics and trends in the development of modern Ukrainian society. The discipline focuses students' attention on the results of research into values, identities, inequalities, social solidarity and conflicts, social relations in employment and political systems, public and political opinion, influence and power, regimes in politics, political systems, civil society, features of modernization and democratization, parties and party systems, elections, modern world politics.

Planned learning activities and teaching methods
Lecture, seminar, independent work, response to a seminar session, analysis of social and political indices, essay, assessment.
Assessment methods and criteria
A student cannot receive a credit if he scored less than 60 points during the semester, in which case he must complete an independent task in the form of an essay with the content and volume corresponding to the number of topics of the discipline that he did not study during the semester in order to bring the points to at least 60. Essay are evaluated similarly to answers in a seminar class. Evaluation organization: Answers in seminar classes are evaluated during the actual seminar classes, points are accumulated throughout the semester. An analytical task on a topic assigned by the lecturer is performed by each student as part of independent work throughout the semester and is evaluated upon its completion. The control work is performed by students within a week after studying topics 1–7 as part of independent work. Rating correspondence scale. Enrolled / Passed 60–100 Fail 0–59
