Course content
Modern GIS is a multimillion-dollar industry involving hundreds of thousands of people around the world. GIS is studied in schools, colleges, and universities. This technology is used in almost all spheres of human activity, including Earth sciences. The ability to work with GIS is an important component of the professional competence of future specialists in cartography, GIS and GIS.
The educational discipline is designed to study the basics of geoinformation systems and databases in the first semester of the 2nd year and includes lectures and laboratory tasks that are conducted in the computer classroom.
The program of the academic discipline consists of two content modules:
– basics of geoinformation systems and databases;
- technologies for entering and processing information in GIS.
Discipline control form - assessment (3rd semester); exam (4th semester).

Forms and organization of assessment:
- current (semester) assessment (laboratory (minimum grade 20, maximum 40; control papers (3-5); independent work (5-10));
– final (final) assessment in the form of a credit/examination (assessment for theoretical knowledge (minimum 12, maximum 20 points); assessment for the practical part (13-20).
For students who scored a total of less points than the critical calculation minimum - 35 points, for admission to the final control form, it is necessary to pass an additionally completed individual task.
