Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful completion of the courses "Higher mathematics", "Basics of geographic information systems and technologies", "Topography with the basics of geodesy".
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of physical geography, geology, earth science, physics, chemistry, water and heat balance.
3. To have basic practical skills of summarizing observational materials for elements of meteorological conditions and regime of water bodies, processing cartographic information, calculations of morphometric and hydrographic characteristics of water bodies and their catchments, water balance.
Course content
The educational discipline "Fundamentals of hydrology and meteorology" is a mandatory component of the comprehensive training of specialists of the educational and qualification level "bachelor" in the specialty "193 - Geodesy and land management". It is divided into two modules. Module 1 "Fundamentals of hydrology" is devoted to the study of general patterns of processes in the hydrosphere, the interrelationship of the hydrosphere with the atmosphere, lithosphere; water cycle on Earth; the main regularities of the physical and geographical distribution of water bodies (rivers, lakes, glaciers, groundwater, swamps, oceans and seas) and their reserves; power sources of water bodies and their hydrological regime, as well as students' attention is paid to the examination and mastering of the main instruments and means of hydrometric observations and methods of hydrological research on water bodies. Module 2 "Fundamentals of Meteorology". The second module is dedicated to the study of the composition and structure of the atmosphere, solar, terrestrial and atmospheric radiation, the thermal regime of the atmosphere, the surface of the soil and water bodies, as well as the water regime of the atmosphere, the basics of physical and geographical patterns of the distribution of meteorological quantities on the Earth. Familiarization with the main methods and means of measuring meteorological quantities.

Assessment methods and criteria
Final evaluation in the form of an exam: the maximum number of points for the exam is 40 points, the minimum number of points that are added to the semester ones is 24 points (60% of the maximum number of points assigned to the exam).
Students who scored a total of fewer points than the critical-calculated minimum are not admitted to the exam. The recommended minimum for admission to the exam is 36 points.
