Course content
The discipline is an integral biological discipline that aims to study the patterns of occurrence and spread of plant diseases, considers the relationship between host plants and their pathogens, and highlights the peculiarities of the mechanisms of plant susceptibility and resistance to pathogens. In the course of studying the discipline, an understanding of nonspecific and specific resistance factors manifested at different levels of organization and different stages of infection development is formed. The discipline examines the mechanisms of genetic control of plant resistance to pathogens, lays the scientific and theoretical foundations for obtaining virus-resistant plants using modern biotechnological methods, and highlights the role of environmental conditions in pathogenesis and develops the ability to predict the occurrence of plant diseases and justify methods and means of disease prevention.
