Learning outcomes
PR6. Analyze biological phenomena and processes at the molecular, cellular, organismal, population-species and biosphere levels in terms of fundamental general scientific knowledge, as well as using special modern research methods. PR13. To adhere to the basic rules of biological ethics, biosafety, biosecurity, assess the risks of using the latest biological, biotechnological and biomedical methods and technologies, identify potentially dangerous organisms or production processes that may pose a threat of emergency situations. PR19. To solve scientific-theoretical, research and applied problems of biology by appropriate methods. PR30. To be able to form a system of analysis and interpretation of new results on the organization and functioning of living systems at the molecular, cellular, organismal and population levels based on in-depth knowledge of the disciplines of professional and practical training.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Genetics", "Genetic monitoring"
2. Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of mathematics, statistics, ecology and genetics
3. Ability to independently apply knowledge of genetics, etc. disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific literature.
Course content
The course is devoted to basic information about the population as a genetic-evolutionary unit, shows its place in the system of species and biocenosis. Regularities of inheritance at the population level are revealed. Genetic variability and polymorphism of populations are characterized, sources of their formation are revealed. Particular attention is paid to genetic processes in the emergence of new species.
