Prerequisites and co-requisites
Successful mastering of courses Bioorganic Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cytology, Biophysics Knowledge of the theoretical foundations of bioorganic chemistry and biochemistry of lipids, proteins and carbohydrates - the main structural components of biological membranes, principles of structure and function of membrane organelles (plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, nucleus, mitochondria, "," Antioxidant "," lipid peroxidation ". Possession of skills in working with instruments used in practical biochemistry.
Course content
The discipline "Structure and functions of biological membranes" acquaints students with modern views on the biochemical composition and molecular structure of plasma membrane and membranes of intracellular organelles, with the structure of specific membrane sites - lipid rafts and caveolae, with modern methods of research and their biological biochemical mechanisms by which membranes realize their transport function, as well as the processes underlying free radical damage to biological membranes.
