Learning outcomes
PLO2. To be able to carry out qualitative and quantitative analysis of substances of inorganic, organic and biological origin using appropriate methods. PLO3. To be able to calculate the composition of nutrient media, determine the features of their preparation and sterilization, to control the quality of raw materials and finished products based on knowledge of the physicochemical properties of organic and inorganic substances. PO 6, 7, 9, 10, 14, 20.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successfully master the disciplines of "Cell Biology", "Molecular Biology", "Anatomy and physiology of plants", "Microbiology", "General genetics". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, anatomy and plant physiology, microbiology and other disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment, used in biological and biotechnological laboratories.
Course content
The course examines the basics of cellular and genetic engineering, genetic methods transformations and their practical application to create economically valuable plant varieties and animal breeds, methods of obtaining improved planting material. Much attention is paid to the biologization of agricultural production, namely biotechnology preparations for plant protection, restoration of productivity and remediation of soils.
