Learning outcomes
PR01. Understand social and economic consequences of the introduction of the latest developments in field of biology in professional activity. PR05. Demonstrate assessment skills unpredictable biological problems and deliberate choice of ways to solve them PR09. Follow the provisions of the biological ethics, rules of biological safety and biological protection during training and professional activity. PR12. Demonstrate knowledge of structure and processes vital activities and functions of living organisms, to understand the mechanisms of physiological regulation functions to maintain homeostasis biological systems. PR14. Analyze interactions of living organisms different levels of phylogenetic relatedness among themselves, the peculiarities of the influence of different factors on living organisms and evaluate their role in biosphere processes transformation of substances and energy.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Know: basics of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics. 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of general microbiology, biochemistry, biophysics. 3. Have basic skills in processing scientific literature, solving problems, working with materials and equipment used in the microbiological laboratory.
Course content
The subject of study of the academic discipline is microbiological processes in modern domestic and industrial wastewater treatment technologies, the role of microorganisms in the process of wastewater treatment by biological methods, the variety of their types metabolism and forms of existence in different types of sewage treatment plants under aerobic and anaerobic conditions conditions, peculiarities of the growth of microorganisms in the presence of xenobiotics and ways of their destruction, the genetic potential of activated sludge bacteria and the interaction of microorganisms in associations.
