PR05. Demonstrate assessment skills unpredictable biological problems and deliberate choosing ways to solve them PR09. To comply with the provisions of biological ethics, rules of biological safety and biological protection in learning process and professional activity. PR12. Demonstrate knowledge of structure and processes vital activities and functions of living organisms, to understand the mechanisms of regulation of physiological functions to maintain the homeostasis of biological systems. PR29.1. Apply the acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills for planning and conducting scientific experiments in the field of biophysics.

Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of scientific-theoretical and practical material of academic disciplines taught to undergraduate students, such as "Biophysics", "Biochemistry", "Molecular Biology", "Biophysical principles of regulation of cellular processes", "Membrane biophysics". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of cytology, biochemistry, molecular biology, etc. disciplines, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in the biophysical laboratory.
Course content
The discipline is devoted to the study of biophysical foundations of cell pathology. Current information on the causes and mechanisms of the development of structural and functional disorders of the cell at the molecular-cellular level is considered. The mechanisms of regulation of cell redox balance, the importance of antioxidant protection in increasing cell resistance to adverse effects, the multilevel nature of antioxidant protection, as well as the issue of free radical damage to cell biomembranes, its internal structures and pathological consequences of such damage. Particular attention is paid to violations of information support of the cell in the development of pathology, namely defects in the functioning of receptors, secondary mediators, signaling mechanisms in various pathologies.
