Prerequisites and co-requisites
1. Successful mastering of the courses "Molecular Biology", "Zoology", "Biochemistry", "Microbiology", "General Genetics". 2. Be able to independently apply knowledge of molecular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, etc. disciplines, perform laboratory and practical work, work with scientific and methodological literature. 3. Have basic skills in working with materials and equipment used in biological and molecular biological laboratories.
Course content
The special course covers the study of biology and ecology, morphology and anatomy of the fruit fly. Genetic symbolism, features of the genome and its features as an object of genetics are considered in detail. A separate section is devoted to the genetics of fruit fly development as an ideal system for switching the work of certain genes in time and space. Genetics and genomics of populations, as well as microorganisms that coexist with Drosophila are considered in detail. In the course of studying the discipline, the practical application and importance of Drosophila in molecular biology and genetics are presented or demonstrated.
