1. Know: 1.1main periods of development, defining events and phenomena of the world historical process; 1.2 main directions of development of biological and medical knowledge in the context civilizational development of mankind; 1.3 the most commonly used concepts and terms in the field of historical science, biology and medicine; 1.4 main achievements of modern biology and medicine. 2. Be able to: 2.1 work with educational literature and scientific sources; 2.2 formulate their own view on the development of scientific knowledge in the world historical context; 2.3 identify and analyze the stages of development of biological and medical knowledge; 2.4 to characterize the peculiarities of the development of certain branches of biology and medicine. 3. Have basic skills of formation and justification independent conclusions on the personal contribution of outstanding intellectuals in the process of world scientific progress.

Coverage of the activities of prominent intellectuals in the world in the field of biology and medicine from ancient times to the present day. Consideration of the main stages of development biological and medical knowledge and determining the personal contribution of leaders scientists of different times in the process of scientific progress at each stage. Analysis features of development of separate branches of biology and medicine through a prism achievements of outstanding scientists in relevant fields. Coverage of activities Ukrainian biologists and physicians who have achieved significant results in science, the importance of their scientific discoveries and achievements for the domestic and world science.
